Australia is set to ban children under 16 from using social media including YouTube.
This ban will start in December, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and X ( formerly Twitter ) . This ban requires these companies to completely prevent all underage users from creating accounts.
This ban comes after a survey found that children who use these platforms had encountered harmful content, such as performing dangerous challenges, and unhealthy lifestyles.
The ban will be set in December and if any companies who didn’t follow this can face fines up to $32 million USD.
