Denmark Raises Retirement Age to 70

Denmark became the highest retirement age country in Europe after the government raised its retirement age to 70.

The decision came after a vote in parliament, and this new rule will apply to anyone born after December 31, 1970.

Previously, the retirement age was averaged 67, the government says the change is essential to sustain the welfare system for future generations.

Currently the population of Denmark is around 6 million and the country has seen a steady rise in older citizens continuing to work.

Many people are not in the support of this rule, especially for workers in physically demanding jobs.
