While humans see hugging as affection, dogs don’t enjoy hugs the way humans do and it can actually trigger discomfort or anxiety in them.
When analysing 250 photos where people hugged their pet dogs, they surprisingly found out that most of the dogs showed signs of stress.
These signs are like turning their heads or flattering their ears, and only 8% of them are comfortable hugging humans.
According to experts, this reaction is natural as dogs are built to fight and to escape under stress.
Hugging makes them feel like they can’t let them escape from the situation and defend themselves.
